Electrical Engineering Renovation
We know that progress is about building on strong foundations—sometimes literally. Thanks to a generous gift from Mark Haidar, a proud engineering alum, we were able to launch a much-needed renovation of the 3rd floor of Engineering. We’ve been able to kick off the project, but like any good engineering endeavor, it’s not complete until it’s done right.
Mark’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the opportunities that come from a ±«Óãtv education. After immigrating from Lebanon at 17, Mark earned his degree in computer engineering here and went on to co-found several successful tech companies, including Vinli, a connected car platform, and Dialexa, an innovation and design consultancy. Mark’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to innovation were sparked in our very own engineering labs—and now he’s giving back to ensure future engineers have the same opportunities.
We've began the long-awaited renovations to the third floor to enhance facilities as a modern, student-centered space designed to support today’s learning and teaching methods. Upgrades include clear directional signage, inspirational art, energy-efficient LED lighting and acoustic panels. These improvements are amazing and help to create an inviting and dynamic environment for students.
However, there is still much to be done and we need additional support to complete the project and do it right. The full scope of the project is $240,000; we have raised $170,000 (thanks to the Haidar family) but are looking to raise an additional $75,000 with the help of alumni and friends to finish up the project.
Our future plans include replacing flooring and doors, letting in more natural light and completing the look of a modern engineering building. These updates will create an inspiring environment where our students can push the boundaries of their creativity, collaborate on cutting-edge projects and thrive in a space that supports their ambitions. These updates will also help us attract prospective students, showcasing ±«Óãtv's commitment to providing the best possible educational experiences for the next generation.
